The Mountain Home Junior High track teams competed at the Berryville Bobcats Junior High Invitational Tuesday with both teams bring home first place trophies.
The Junior Lady Bombers won the meet with 128 points over the host team which scored 91.5 points. Yellville-Summit placed third overall with 86 points.
9th grader Bailey Ritenburg won the 800m in a time of 2:40.30min. Erin Smith placed third in 2:48.75. Ritenburg and Smith placed second and third in the 1600m run with times of 6:10.83 and 6:15.20 min. They were also a part of the winning 4x400m relay team along with Pixie Bolick and Anna McCarn. They won the event in 4:55.84 min. 8th grader Pixie Bolick placed second in the 300m hurdles earlier that evening with a time of 1:00.59 min.
Anna McCarn had a great day on the track. The 9th grader placed second in the high jump by clearing 4’8″ and third in the 400m with 1:11.33 min. McCarn also helped her 4x200m team to a first-place finish with the help of Camilla Johnson, Whitten Coleman, and Laykin Moore.
Laykin Moore and Whitten Coleman along with Kendra Medley and Lorelai Green finished in second place in the 4x100m relay with a time of 57.65 sec. Moore continued her success in the field events with third place in the triple jump with 29′ 8.50″. 8th grader Medley also saw success in the jumping events with second place in the long jump with 14′ 7.25″.
In the pole vault 8th grader Olivia McCoy won by clearing 6’6″. In the discus Kori Scroggins placed second with a throw of 67’11”.
The boys’ team also won the meet with 161 points over Harrison who scored 143 points. Farmington placed third with 72 points.
In the discus 9th grader Eli Jones took first place with a throw of 114’6″. Kyle McBride placed second with 100’1″. Jones placed second in the shot put with 39’6″.
Adam Jones cleared 10’6″ again this week to take first place in the pole vault. Zach Daugherty placed second by clearing 9’6″. Daugherty also had a good day on the track with second place in the 400m in 1:00.42 min. Daugherty was a part of the 4x200m relays along with Kaden West, Brantlee Phillips, and Christian Cruse. They won the event in a time of 1:48.08 min.
In the sprinting events 8th grader Barrett Miller earned three first-place finishes. Miller took home the 100m in 12.68 sec and the 200m in 25.77. Christian Cruse placed third in the 200m with a time of 26.80sec. Both Cruse and Miller were on the winning 4x100m relay team along with Jacob Chenoweth and Caden Del Soto. They won with a time of 48.56 sec.
In the distance events, Connor King had two podium finishes. King finished second in the 1600m with 5:24.83 min and third in the 800m with 2:33.49 min.
The bombers won both the 4x800m and the 4x400m relay. Garrett Barr, Legend Blount, Dean Eimers, and Trenton Smith ran the 4×800 in 10:26.80 min. Smith and Barr and Caden Del Soto and Dayton Davis ran the 4x400m in 4:15.66 min.
The junior high track team returns to action on Monday for their home meet, the Junior Bomber Relays. Please come out and support the Bomber track team. The meet will start at 3:30 PM.
