Yellville-Summit Junior High track teams both win district meet

The Yellville-Summit Junior High track teams both brought home first place trophies from the Class 2A Region 1 Junior High District Track Meet held Wednesday in Eureka Springs.

On the girls’ side, Yellville-Summit racked 243.5 points, finishing 61 points ahead of second place Decatur. Flippin was third and Cotter finished sixth. On the boys’ side, Yellville-Summit had 197 points, 12 points more than second place Decatur. Flippin was third and Cotter fifth.

Individually for the Junior Lady Panthers, Fay Chism won the high point award after she won the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, the pole vault and the high jump; Riley Hopson won the 400 meter dash and the 800 meter run and was second in the long jump; Sierra Burrow won the triple jump and the long jump and was second in the 200 meter dash; Ellie Lee won the shot put and finished third in the discus; True Layton was second in the shot put; McKinsey Trammel finished second in the discus; Greyson Dearmore finished third in the 400 meter dash, Miah Klump was third in the shot put; Hannah Hayward finished third in the triple jump and Blair Castle was second in the pole vault and third in the high jump.

For Flippin, Kaci Jo Rehrig won the discus and Emily Shelton finished second in the 1600 meter run

In team events, Yellville-Summit won the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays, was second in the 4×400 meter relay and was third in the 4×800 meter relay. Flippin finished second in the 4×800 meter relay and third in the 4×400 meter relay.

Individually for the Yellville-Summit junior boys, Caleb Hartle won the 400 meter dash and the high jump, Carey Martin won the shot put and was second in the discus, Cooper Craighead won the pole vault, Dustin St. Onge finished second in the 800 meter run, Jaxon Whitsell finished second in the pole vault, Canaan Darnell was third in the 800 meter run, Nicholas Veter was third in the long jump, Denver Layton finished third in the 400 meter dash and Kendall Hickerson was third in the triple jump.

For Flippin, Braydon Sumpter won the 1600 meter run and Alex Glenn finished second in the 400 meter dash and the long jump.

For Cotter, Ryan Benedict finished second in the high jump and David Moore was third in the 300 meter hurdles.

In team events, Yellville-Summit won the 4×100, 4×200 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay races. Cotter was second in the 4×100 meter relay and third in the 4×200 meter relay. Flippin was third in the 4×400 meter relay.
