Wednesday was good start to the postseason for the Yellville-Summit High School track teams. The Panthers and Lady Panthers were successfully able to defend their 2A-1 conference championships from a year ago at Eureka Springs.
On the girls’ side, Flippin was the runner-up on the team leaderboard. Cotter finished sixth.
In the 100-meter dash, Yellville-Summit’s Kambree Gibson took the win, Sierra Burrow was second, and Hannah Hayward ended up fourth. Morgan Zick of Cotter took third place.
The Lady Panthers had the top four finishers in the 200-meter dash. K.J. Moore took the win, followed by Burrow, Gibson and Hayward.
In the 400-meter dash, Yellville-Summit’s Kaylee Martin got the win, Jacey Davenport finished third, and Matilda Bergeron was fourth. Madi Hopson of Flippin took second place, and Zick finished fifth.
Hopson took the 800-meter run, and fellow Lady Bobcat Alyssa Shelton was fifth. For Yellville-Summit, Martin, Moore and Gibson ended up second, third and fourth.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Yellville-Summit’s Gibson captured the victory, Fay Chism took second place, and Bayli Teel finished fifth. Zick was fourth for the Lady Warriors.
The Lady Panthers had three of the top five finishers in the 300-meter hurdles. Chism was the winner, Teel ended up third, and Abby Methvin took fifth place.
In the high jump, Yellville-Summit’s Moore took the win, Martin finished second, and Chism was fourth. Cotter’s Zick ended up third.
The Lady Panthers also had the top four finishers in the pole vault. Moore captured the victory, followed by Chism, Erica Pyle and Kadence Doshier.
In the long jump, Yellville-Summit’s Gibson took the win, Burrow took second place, Methvin finished third, and Hayward was fifth. Zick of Cotter ended up fourth.
Yellville-Summit ended up with the top four in the triple jump. Burrow was followed by Methvin, Hayward and Martin. Amanda Thompson of Flippin took fifth place.
Flippin’s Hannah Penn won the discus, and teammate Kacy Jo Rehrig finished fourth. For Yellville-Summit, Emily Pena was second, Khloey Rogers ended up third, and Elle Lee took fifth place.
Penn also represented the Lady Bobcats by winning the shot put. For the Lady Panthers, Lee finished second, Pena was third, and Mason DeForest ended up fifth.
In the 3200-meter run, Flippin’s Hopson took second place. Yellville-Summit’s Bailey Ervin and Lucia Zuniga finished third and fourth.
In the 1600-meter run, Yellville-Summit’s Erica Pyle was second, and Ervin and Zuniga ended up fourth and fifth. Barbora Berkova of Flippin took third place.
The Lady Panthers also won all four relays. In the 4×800, Martin, Doshier, Chism and Davenport beat out Flippin’s Thompson, Shelton, Berkova and Hopson. Bergeron, Martin, Methvin and Teel won the 4×400; Chism, Hayward, Burrow and Davenport captured the 4×200; and Davenport, Moore, Burrow and Hayward took the 4×100.
Yellville-Summit also dominated the boys’ side. Flippin finished fourth, and Cotter was seventh.
In the 200-meter dash, Yellville-Summit’s Tristin Teel got the win, Javen Keymer ended up second, Landen Keiter took third place, and Alex Brotherton finished fifth. Matias Van Iseghem of Flippin was fourth.
Yellville-Summit had three of the top four in the 800-meter run. Lucas McVay was the winner, Rafe Heap ended up second, and Copper Swearingen took fourth place.
In the 3200-meter run, Yellville-Summit’s McVay got the win, Justin Lester finished second, Swearingen was fourth, and Jacob Smith ended up fifth. Aidan Browne of Flippin took third place.
Yellville-Summit also had the top two finishers in the pole vault. Caiden Curtis was followed by McVay.
In the shot put, Yellville-Summit’s Tyler Barrett was the winner, Carey Martin finished second, and Caleb Rogers was fifth. Brooks Cheek of Cotter ended up fourth.
Yellville-Summit had three of the top four in the discus. Barrett captured the victory, Trenton Purdom took third place, and Rogers finished fourth. Flippin’s Van Iseghem was fifth.
Yellville-Summit also ended up with three of the top five in the triple jump. Curtis got the win, Teel ended up fourth, and Keymer took fifth place.
Van Iseghem of Flippin finished second in the 400-meter dash. The next three places were captured by Yellville-Summit’s Heap, Caleb Hartle and Keymer.
Yellville-Summit had two of the top five in two other events. In the 1600-meter run, McVay finished second, and Swearingen was fifth. In the 110-meter hurdles, Curtis ended up second, and Bradon McCalla took fifth place.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Browne of Flippin finished second, and Curtis of Yellville-Summit was third.
Yellville-Summit ended up with two of the top five in the 100-meter dash. Teel ended up third, and Brotherton took fifth place.
In the long jump, Nicholas Vetor of Yellville-Summit finished fifth.
In the 4×800-meter relay, Yellville-Summit’s Robert Howell, McCalla, Swearingen and Smith were second. Riley Rust, William Rasico, Daniel Dawson and Alex Glenn of Flippin ended up third.
In the 4×400-meter relay, Hartle, Heap, Jaxton Decker and Howell of Yellville-Summit took second place. Flippin’s Glenn, Rust, Browne and Van Iseghem finished third.
In the 4×200-meter relay, Keymer, Denver Layton, Howell and Teel of Yellville-Summit were second. Browne, Glenn, Corbin Phillips and Van Iseghem of Flippin ended up third.
Yellville-Summit’s Brotherton, Jaxon Whitsell, Landen Keiter and Vetor took second place in the 4×100-meter relay. Samson Bove, Rust, Phillips and Dawson of Flippin finished fourth.
