Bomber boys set new state record in 3200M relay at Meet of Champs

It was a successful day for the Mountain Home High School boys’ track team Wednesday at the Meet of Champs. Competing at Russellville High School, the Bombers had the most team points, and they set a new overall state record in one event.

The 4×800 meter relay team of Anderson Hodges, Andrew Westphal, Bryson Hodges and Ky Bickford shattered the old record. The previous record was 7:52:21. The Bombers quartet Wednesday ran the race in 7:46:36. Their time was 14 seconds faster than they ran in the Class 5A State Track Meet last week which is the new Class 5A State Meet record at 8:00:08.

The Bombers’ new state record also ranks the number seven in the nation!

In other team events, the Bombers finished second in the 4×400 meter relay with the team of Brody Patterson, Bickford, Bryson Hodges and Anderson Hodges.

In individual results for the Bombers, Patterson was second in the 300 meter hurdles, Anderson Hodges finished fourth in the 800 meter run with Bickford fifth, Michael Davis tied for fifth in the pole vault and Zach Daugherty was 11th, Robert Dover was sixth in the discus and Brady Barnett was sixth in the long jump.

Mountain Home had the most team points with 44.5. Both Beebe and El Dorado finished with 43 team points.

Norfork’s Rens Altorf had a sixth place finish in the 800 meter run.

Yellville-Summit’s Lucas McVay finished tenth in the pole vault and Tyler Barrett was tenth in the shot put and the discus.

Melbourne’s Nathan Woodall finished 11th in the 110 meter hurdles.

In girl’s results, Mountain Home’s Rylee Patterson finished second in the 3200 meter run.

Yellville-Summit’s Kambree Gibson finished eighth in the 100 meter hurdles and 11th in the triple jump and KJ Moore tied for 11th in the high jump.
