The Mountain Home Bombers will live to play another day in the Class 5A State Tournament as they took down Little Rock Christian Thursday afternoon in Hot Springs 4-3 despite managing just two hits.
The Bomber bats were quiet most of the afternoon until Tony Fox stepped to the plate and slapped a single in the left field for the Bombers first hit in the 4th inning. After a stolen base and a well placed sacrifice bunt by Will Beckham, Fox would scamper home on a well executed suicide squeeze from Reed Ellison and the Bombers would tie the game 1-1.
The Warriors would respond back the next half inning on an RBI Double by Oklahoma State commit Charlie Carter, and Little Rock Christian regained the lead 2-1.
After both teams traded 1-2-3 innings the Bombers found themselves with their backs against the wall down 2-1 in the 6th. After back-to-back hit by pitches and a walk, Jacob Czantkowski stepped to the plate and delivered a hit into left field that would score two runs. Beckham, four pitches later, would come in to score on a wild pitch to extend the Bombers lead to 4-2.
Ellison pitched the last three innings to earn the win for Mountain Home.
Little Rock Christian finishes the season 22-9 and Mountain Home improves 17-11.
The Bombers will play Sheridan in the 2nd round of the Class 5A State Tournament on the ground of Majestic Park in Hot Springs Friday afternoon at 3.
