An Izard County man has been arrested on a felony charge of internet stalking of a child. Twenty-one-year-old Ricky Dale Rushing of Oxford is being held in the Izard County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by an investigator with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division about Rushing allegedly making inappropriate comments to a juvenile female online.

The juvenile and her mother met with Izard County investigators who confirmed Rushing had been messaging the girl. Investigators then used the girl’s phone, posing as her, to chat with Rushing. During the course of the chats, Rushing discovered the girl was 15 and asked to meet her. He then explicitly discussed sex acts he wanted the two to engage in.

Later in the conversation, the two agreed to meet at a location in Oxford. Undercover officers were waiting and Rushing slowed as he passed the meeting location, but did not stop. An Izard County deputy, unaware of the investigation, made a traffic stop on Rushing’s truck a few minutes later for having a tail light out. The undercover officers went to the location and arrested Rushing.
