A 61-year-old man arrested after he was reported to be yelling and screaming about people being after him and trying to get into vehicles traveling along Arkansas Highway 5 South appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court June 27.

James Allen Henderson who lives in the Norfork area entered a not guilty plea to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a deface firearm and disorderly conduct.

Just after 9 a.m., May 13, a call came into the 911-dispatch center concerning Henderson’s odd behavior.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the area where Henderson was located was in a construction zone and vehicles were either stopped or moving slowly, giving him easy access to the vehicles.

Henderson was reported to have been carrying a .410 gauge single shot shotgun. The weapon was reported to be loaded when seized from the suspect.

In addition to the shotgun shell in the chamber of the weapon, two more .410 gauge shells were recovered from Henderson’s person.

Henderson was said to have felony convictions on his record from Arkansas and other states.

Baxter County sheriff’s deputies reported no serial number could be found on the weapon.

While being transported to the Baxter County Detention Center, Henderson is reported to have said several times that “someone was after him.”

Henderson was approved for the services of a Public Defender.

He is free on a $5,000 bond.
