According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, the victim’s boyfriend returned home to find another male in the residence and became upset. The victim stated 36-year-old Phillip Bartlett came through the door of the residence with a bat in his hand and asked why the male was in the residence. The victim stated she went outside to tell the male to leave and when she re-entered the residence Bartlett began yelling at her accusing her of cheating on him.

Bartlett allegedly lunged at the victim and began choking her. The victim stated Bartlett allegedly threw her into a bookshelf leaving several items broken.

Bartlett was taken in for an interview where he stated he returned home to find the male leaving the residence and yelled at him to not return. He stated the victim allegedly began yelling at him when he told her he was done with the relationship. Bartlett stated the male returned to the residence and pulled a firearm on him but was told to leave by the victim.

Bartlett went back inside the residence to continue to pack his things when the female victim began to allegedly throw things at and hit him. Bartlett stated he pushed the victim out of the way when she grabbed the bat and proceeded to break numerous items.

Contact was then made with 30-year-old Randall Schneider who called the incident into dispatch. He stated the victim went to his residence due to being beat on by Bartlett. Schneider stated he returned to Bartlett’s residence to tell him to leave when Bartlett came at him with a bat. Schneider stated Bartlett said he would leave so he got in his vehicle but allegedly tried to run over Schneider with his car. Schneider stated Bartlett allegedly drove around the residence and rammed his vehicle into Schneider’s.

Schneider then stated Bartlett rammed the house several times, drove through the fence and field and proceeded to flee the scene.

On the other side, Bartlett stated Schneider and 51-year-old Earl Davenport arrived at the residence where they all met on the porch. Schneider allegedly swung on Bartlett where they got locked up and Davenport allegedly jumped into the fray. Bartlett stated he was hit with a bat a couple of times and was then able to get to his car and lock the doors. He stated he told Schneider to move his vehicle, but Schneider instead told him to walk. Bartlett stated Davenport began allegedly ripping the mirror off the vehicle so he put his vehicle into reverse and backed up. Bartlett stated the only way to leave the situation was to go around the house where he admitted to hitting the fence, Schneider’s car and the house.

Authorities state Davenport ran into the woods before arrival due to having a warrant out for arrest.

Bartlett has been booked into the Marion County Detention Center on felony counts of domestic battery in the second degree and aggravated assault. He has also been charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in the first degree. Bond is set at $5,000.

Schneider and Davenport were booked on felony charges of aggravated assault but are free on $5,000 bonds.
