The community of Mountain Home Public Schools is mourning the loss of one of Bomber athletics’ most significant contributors. Seventy-three-year-old Max Atkinson of Midway died Friday night after the boat he was operating on Norfork Lake collided with the U.S. Highway 62/412 bridge at Henderson.
Mountain Home athletic director Mitch Huskey says the news of Atkinson’s passing was tough to hear.
Listen:
Atkinson has long been the public address announcer for Mountain Home High School football and basketball. In addition, he assisted his wife, Debbie, during the time she served as the head coach for the Lady Bombers’ soccer program.
Huskey says when it came to supporting Mountain Home athletics, Atkinson was someone who could be depended on.
Listen:
Funeral arrangements for Max Atkinson are pending at Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
