A man who has had criminal cases opened against him in three Arkansas counties appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Thirty-three-year-old Daniel Rhease Hoskins, who lists a home address in Paragould, pled guilty to charges against him in two cases and was given five years in prison.
Hoskins was charged with bringing drugs into the Baxter County Detention Center, possessing methamphetamine, tampering with evidence and being a felon in possession of a firearm
ARREST RECORD
The latest Baxter County arrest for Hoskins actually came while he was being booked into the jail on another charge in late March.
As Hoskins was disrobing to change into a jail uniform, he is reported to have run to a toilet in the area and attempted to flush a small plastic bag.
The toilet was out of order and the flush failed.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Hoskins then grabbed the bag out of the toilet and stuck it in his mouth.
A jailer was able to retrieve the bag that was found to contain a white crystal substance field-testing positive for methamphetamine.
MULTI-COUNTY RECORD
On Jan. 31 last year, Hoskins was arrested by a Gassville police officer while standing beside a gas pump at Casey’s General Store.
The officer reported Hoskins tried to hide his face. Hoskins was identified through a check of his vehicle’s license plate.
He was found to have a number of felony convictions, an active extradition warrant and was listed as a parole absconder.
In mid-July last year, Hoskins and three other inmates in the Baxter County Detention Center were charged with going into a cell and beating up another prisoner.
Hoskins faced charges of 3rd degree battery, engaging in violent criminal group activity and impairing the operation of a vital public facility in his new case.
The state dismissed those charges on Mar. 29.
OTHER CHARGES
Charges in Baxter County have resulted in petitions to revoke sentences imposed in two cases in Greene County.
According to court records, Hoskins has also had criminal cases opened against him in Craighead County.
