The Twin Lakes Area is mourning the loss of the widow of the late Ranger Boats founder Forrest Wood. Nina Mae Wood of Flippin died Monday at the age of 90.

The former Nina Kirkland wed Forrest Wood in 1951, and they were married for nearly 69 years. The couple began operating a fishing guide and float trip service in the last 1950s. In 1968, the Woods co-founded Wood Manufacturing Co., Inc., in Flippin to manufacture Ranger Boats. They also operated a successful farm near Flippin, and they later became involved in the formation of Vexus Boats in Dec. 2017.

Forrest Wood died in January 2020. On March 18 of last year, Nina Wood was in attendance when the city of Flippin announced the renaming of several city streets to Forrest Wood Drive as part of its centennial celebration. City officials also proclaimed that day to be “Nina Wood Day.”

A celebration of life for Nina Wood will be held at a later date. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or the Flippin Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.
