A man with a long list of criminal charges was back in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Forty-nine-year-old Doyle Gene George who lists an address along State Highway 201 North entered a guilty plea to the latest charges against him.
He was sentenced to three years in prison.
According to numbers compiled in 2017, George has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center about 118 times. He has been sentenced to prison four times and been on parole/probation five times for a total of about 15 years since Department of Correction records were computerized in 1991.
George’s latest arrest came in early April last year when lawmen were attempting to locate George in an investigation having to do with multiple stolen catalytic converters.
George was reported to have fled the residence.
When one of the officers arrived at George’s residence, he reported seeing a man dressed in a black shirt and blue jeans ducking behind a tree.
The man attempting to hide was identified as George.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the officer was able to sneak up behind the man and grab his left hand so he could be cuffed.
The officer reported that George dropped a cigarette pack and a can of chewing tobacco.
After putting handcuffs on George, the officer retrieved the dropped items.
Despite having dropped them, George denied the items belonged to him. The officer opened the cigarette pack and discovered several small plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance.
When the bags were weighed, they were found to contain about 4.1 grams of the white substance.
In addition to what was suspected to being methamphetamine, officers also found several items of drug paraphernalia, including syringes, digital scales and a large spoon.
George was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
