A traffic stop by Arkansas State Police leads to an arrest of a Mountain Home man on multiple charges after he ran from the trooper.
44-year-old Jason Chorba is charged with driving on a suspended license, no liability insurance, failure to register vehicle, no seatbelt, fictitious license sticker, obstruction of government operations, fleeing on foot, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Chorba was pulled over on September 11th by Arkansas State Police for expired tags and was not able to provide law enforcement with his driver’s license or vehicle registration, and did not provide them with his full name. When officers were running his information, they saw Chorba open the vehicle door and running down a steep hill nearby. After refusing to stop after multiple verbal commands, Chorba fell, causing injury to his right shoulder and left knee. Once officials were able to reach him, they found a methamphetamine pipe along the path he took, as well as one in his vehicle.
Once Chorba gave law enforcement his full name, he stated he ran because of outstanding warrants. After running Chorba’s information in the system, it was discovered he had one in Baxter County, one in Marion County, and was absconded from parole.
An ambulance transported Chorba to Baxter Health for treatment where he was released to hospital security staff. After being released from the hospital, he was then transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where he is currently being held on $10,010 bond.
