A parole home visit in Horseshoe Bend led to the arrest of four individuals on drug related charges.
According to the probable cause affidavit, investigators with the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Probation and Parole, Arkansas State Police, and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force conducted a visit on the home of known parolee, 56-year-old David Smart, where known through previous investigations, has been used for delivery and use of methamphetamine along with other narcotics. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered several people on the property.
Officers were able to make contact with Smart, along with 56-year-old Sherry Lynn Brown-Anderson and a woman who identified herself with a false name. All three occupants were walked outside and the residence was searched.
During the search, authorities found a loaded syringe in the bedroom of Smart and Brown-Anderson. They also discovered a used metal spoon containing previously heated residue and a cotton time, along with a used small plastic baggie containing a white powdery residue. All items were field tested and the syringe and spoon field tested positive for methamphetamine.
In addition, authorities located a small purse on the bedroom floor containing a pill bottle with someone else’s name on it, containing multiple pills identified as Amlodipine Besylate, along with Hydrocodone.
In the spare bedroom where the woman was staying, law enforcement found a syringe in a small plastic container under the bed, along with a smoking pipe in the living room, both field testing positive for methamphetamine.
All three were placed under arrest and booked into the Izard County Jail.
During booking, jail staff were able to correctly identify the woman as 54-year-old Carrie Ann Robinson, an active parolee absconder, after her fingerprints were ran. In addition to providing the false name to authorities, Robinson provided a false date of birth. The information did come back to an individual out of Fulton County and was a real identity.
Smart and Brown-Anderson were each charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia and are currently being held in the Izard County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
Robinson was charged with one count of possession of drug parahernalia, four counts forgery in the second degree, and one count of non financial identity fraud and was booked to the Izard County Detention Center with no bond.
In addition, outside of the home, law enforcement came across two people, one male and one female, sleeping in a tent along with strong odor of marijuana coming from it. When they were asked for their identification they stated they did not have it with them, and gave the officers their names, based on the information given, neither had a criminal history or warrants.
During the search, an investigator discovered two glass smoking devices with burnt crystalline residue found under the pillow where the male had been sleeping. The male was placed in handcuff and transported to the Izard County Detention Center. During transport, the male identified himself as 32-year-old Tyler L. Burns. He told the officers that he believed he had a warrant for unpaid child support, but was not sure. Inquiries confirmed his identity, but did not show any outstanding warrants, but showed previous criminal history convictions for possession of drug paraphernalia in Tennessee.
A field test from the evidence collected tested positive for methamphetamine. Burns was released on $5,000 bond.
