Two Izard County residents are facing multiple drug charges after authorities executed a search warrant.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Izard County investigators and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in Horseshoe Bend. When they arrived at the home, suspects 51-year-old Darlenia Meadows answered the door while 28-year-old Jonathan Gitzen was sitting in a rocking chair. Upon entry both were placed in handcuffs while the search was conducted.

During the search, law enforcement found one clear plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance; one black Oakley hard glasses case containing a clear bag with white powdery substance; multiple resealable clear plastic bags commonly used to distribute methamphetamine; a glass smoking device with a white residue and crystalline residue; and one gray glasses case containing several hypodermic syringes, white crystalline residue, and a smaller black rectangle case that contained used hypodermic syringes, multiple resealable clear plastic bags and white crystalline residue.

Authorities found a bag of suspected methamphetamine on a plastic storage drawer in between two chairs that Gitzen and Meadows has been sleeping in; the black case was found on the floor next to Meadows’ chair; and the gray glasses case was found in a backpack that was on the floor next to Gitzen’s chair.

Investigators field tested the white crystalline substance and confirmed the presence of methamphetamine weighing less than two grams. The evidence was processed and sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for official weight and identification.

In addition, the property searched is within 1000 feet of a drug free zone, near a park at the intersection of North Bend Drive and Rolling Lane.

Meadows and Gitzen were transported to the Izard County Detention Center where they were charged with maintaining a drug premises within 1000 feet of a drug free zone, possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released on $20,000 bonds each.
