MH Education Foundation to recognize Baker as oldest living graduate

At the age of 101, Libby Baker will be recognized this week as the oldest living graduate of Mountain Home High School. Baker is part of the Class of 2022 to be inducted into the Mountain Home Education Foundation Hall of Honor on Thursday.

Baker graduated from Mountain Home in 1937. She says she thought the school had some of the best teachers at the time, and she continues to believe they were great.

Baker says one memory she has always cherished from her time as a Mountain Home student was being under the leadership of Guy Berry.

Baker has remained a Mountain Home resident since her graduation. She says it gives her a sense of pride to see how much the school district has grown and the people it has served and continues to serve.

The Mountain Home Education Foundation’s Night of Honors is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. The reception starts at 5:30, and the dinner and program will begin a half hour later. Tickets can be purchased, or gifts can be made in honor of Baker and other inductees at mountainhomeeducationfoundation.org/donate.
