Rowland’s talent in track and field under the direction of Coach D.A. Dahlke led to him attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville on an athletic scholarship. He says during his time as a Bomber, he was part of a small, close-knit team, that didn’t have its own home facility.

His employment at Garver, LLC, started in June 1976, where he eventually served as the vice president on the board of directors.
