A Boone County man has been arrested for theft, trespassing, and breaking and entering stemming from an incident in August.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched to a residence with a report of a stolen backhoe. The victim stated his Case model 590 was parked in front of his shop on August 1. When he went outside the next morning, the backhoe was gone. The victim reviewed his security footage and saw two individuals on camera approximately 30 minutes before it was taken.
Video surveillance shows the individual, later identified as 31-year-old Michael Andrew Martin of Harrison, walking around to the back of the backhoe and entering the shop with a blue five-gallon air tank. Law enforcement located the backhoe just off of Mill Hollow Road near the train tracks a few hours later, where the victim was able to recover his property.
Martin is charged with felony charges of theft of property, breaking or entering, and criminal trespass. He is currently being held at the Boone County Detention Center on $10,000 cash only bond.
