The University of Arkansas baseball program has received an early commitment from an area athlete. Grant Wren, slated to graduate from Melbourne High School in 2025, has committed to continuing his playing career as a Razorback.

According to recruiting reporter Richard Davenport, the 6’4″, 180-pound Wren has seen his fastball velocity increase by eight miles-per-hour since last summer. He was reportedly clocked at 93 in September.

In addition to Arkansas, Wren has been recruited by LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt and Miami. Prior to Wren’s commitment, Arkansas’ 2025 class was ranked eighth in the country, according to Perfect Game.

Wren is also a member of Melbourne’s football team. The Bearkatz are currently 12-0 and will travel to Glen Rose Friday for their quarterfinal game in the Class 3A State Playoffs.

Grant is the son Tommy Wren. Tommy is a former state representative who grew up in Mountain Home.
