Sommer Taylor

A woman involved with a group who held a man against his will, roughed him up and shaved his head because he was suspected of having stolen cellphones appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

Thirty-three-year-old Sommer Taylor of Mountain Home pled guilty to a charge of first-degree false imprisonment and was sentenced to five years probation.

The victim in the case, 27-year-old Kevin Gerts, was abducted by four people at the Executive Inn in Mountain Home.

On July 19 last year, Mountain Home Police were called to the motel when a bicycle believed to be stolen was found abandoned on the property.

Police reviewed footage from video surveillance cameras and saw what was described as an abduction in progress.

A long haired male, later identified as Gerts, was seen being dragged off a small bicycle and shoved into the back seat of a vehicle.

Much of the time, Gerts was being dragged by his shoulder length hair.

One of the people involved was wearing a clown mask. He was still wearing the mask when the vehicle carrying Gerts and three of the suspects was stopped about an hour after the abduction.

The other involved in the abduction have all been charged. They are 54-year-old James Seawell, 20-year-old Jonathan Farrar and 44-year-old Jennifer Drzka. Electronic court records show trial dates for all three have been set for late February.

Taylor was sentenced under provisions of Act 346, commonly known as the first offenders law. If a person maintains a clean record during the time he is on probation, he can petition the courts to have his conviction sealed.

Gerts is serving a prison sentence on an earlier charge. He is an inmate in the Ouachita River Correctional Unit of the state prison system.
