In a short meeting, the Mountain Home City Council met for its regular schedule meeting Thursday night. One council member, Paige Dillard Evans, was not in attendance.

The meeting began with Mayor Hillrey Adams thanking the street department and everyone who helped with the winter weather the past two weeks. Mayor Adams says he has received many compliments on how well everything was handled.

The first item on the agenda was a resolution to seek funding for the second phase of the wastewater project through a loan from the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC). The loan terms are more affordable than private options with the loan costing a 1% service fee with 0% interest for 10 years, saving the city millions on interest. The funding will help the finish the second phase of the project with replacement of all the electrical within the plant, a UV change out to phase out hazardous chemicals, screw pump replacement, and replacing 30-year-old equipment which was not replaced in the first phase. The application is ready to go and the city qualified for some environmental exemptions to make the process run smoother. The resolution was approved unanimously by the council.

The final item on the agenda was an ordinance to make adjustments to the wage scale and compensation plan for Police Certification incentive pay, Fire Trainer, and EMT positions in the city. The funds were approved for the positions in the 2023 budget, they were just left off of the final wage scale. The council approved to the amendment.
