One person was killed in a three vehicle accident in Summit on the evening of Feb. 12.
Marion County Sheriff Gregg L. Alexander states officers investigated the fatal accident which occurred at approximately 6.
According to a press release the driver of vehicle one stopped on the center line of Arkansas Highway 202 facing west to speak to the occupants of a second vehicle parked on the south side of the road. The occupants of vehicle two left the car unattended and began walking across the lane of traffic towards vehicle one. The driver of a third vehicle traveling east on Hwy. 202 did not see the pedestrians walking in the roadway and struck them.
Both pedestrians were transported by ambulance for treatment and one died as a result of his injuries.
Officers report it was dusk at the time of the collision and both parked vehicles had their lights illuminating the highway, blinding the third driver.
The names of the victims have not been released.
