Buffalo River drops below flood stages; area highway closures continue

While the Buffalo National River has dropped below flood stages, the levels remain high in three areas. In addition, a few area highway closures remain in effect.

At 10:45 Sunday morning, the Buffalo was at 9.3 feet near Harriet, where the flood stage is 10.62 feet. At St. Joe, where the flood stage is 11.12 feet, the river was at 9.53. At 6:15, the Buffalo’s level was 6.57 feet at Pruitt, where the flood stage is 7.72 feet.

The Missouri Department of Transportation’s traveler information map continues to show a few flooded roads in the area. In Ozark County, road closures include a portion of Missouri Route H at the North Fork River, Missouri Highway 181 at Bryant Creek and Missouri Highway 95 at Spring Creek. In addition, a portion of Missouri Route FF is closed at Hunter Creek east of Ava, and Missouri Route Y is closed at Cowskin Creek west of Ava.
