
Mountain Home was able to open its softball season Monday with a three-game sweep at Southside Batesville.
The Lady Bombers dominated the Lady Southerners 11-1 in the varsity game. Emma Crabb had a good day in the circle as she recorded 18 strikeouts. Offensively for Mountain Home, Mallorie Drewry was 2-for-5 with five RBIs, Olivia Crabb went 2-for-3 and drove in a run, and Emma Crabb finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
Mountain Home also got past Southside 3-1 in the junior varsity contest. Kierra Alkire was 1-for-1 for the J.V. Lady Bombers with an RBI, and Amelia Mason and Carly Pittman each went 1-for-2.
In the junior high game, Mountain Home pounded Southside 11-2. Emma King pitched four innings and struck out 10 batters. Lakin Anderson led the Junior Lady Bombers by going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and King went 1-for-2 and drove in two runs.
All three Mountain Home teams are 1-0 on the season. The junior varsity and junior high squads will travel to Valley Springs on Thursday. The varsity team’s next game will be Friday at North Little Rock.
Flippin was able to sweep a conference doubleheader over Green Forest. The Lady Bobcats routed the Lady Tigers 21-6 in the opener and took the late game 13-3.
Flippin’s victories in the circle came from Kelsey Hickey and Adrianne Benedict. Over the two games, Jayden Spoon drew three walks and crossed the plate seven times, Adrianne Benedict scored three runs and drove in five more, Rylee Hickey had four runs and three RBIs, Marcee Benedict drove in three runs, and Abby Riggs drew four walks.
The Lady Bobcats start the season at 2-0.
Viola had a successful road trip on Monday. The Lady Longhorns went to Cave City and grabbed the 4-0 shutout.
Izard County used a five-run sixth inning to defeat Highland 6-2. Megan McBride picked up the win as she pitched a complete game and gave up two hits. Quinn Johnson led the Lady Cougar offense with a double and two RBIs, McBride provided a hit and drove in a run, Katie Orf had a hit and scored twice, Tinley Bailey added a hit, and Hollie Johnson drove in a run.
Mountain View had a rough outing in Pleasant Plains. The Lady Yellowjackets suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Midland.
Valley Springs had a good evening in front of its home crowd. The Lady Tigers defeated Russellville 7-2.
