MH woman arrested for lottery fraud

A Mountain Home woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing and cashing out multiple lottery tickets from her former job.Forty-one-year-old Nicole Ashley Guinn is facing multiple felony charges after 32 tickets were activated during her shift on Feb. 2. According to the probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 13, a report was filed with the Mountain Home Police Department regarding theft from a local gas station.

Officers spoke with the store manager who stated a former employee, identified as Guinn, had stolen and cashed out lottery tickets from the store during her employment. Officials state the tickets were stored inside a locked cabinet only Guinn would have a key for that day. Officers obtained help from a security analyst with the Arkansas Lottery and discovered 27 of the tickets were cashed out in the store Guinn was employed at, but five others were cashed out at different locations in Mountain Home.

The affidavit states officers were given the date, time and location of the cashing out of the other tickets. They then obtained surveillance footage from two different businesses and observed Guinn redeeming the stolen tickets.

Guinn has been charged with felony counts of theft of property and lottery fraud. She has been ordered to pay $2,540 in restitution to the former employer and $1,285 in a separate restitution to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

Guinn has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on a $7,500 bond.
