Marion Co. man arrested for theft after returning from Cozumel

A Marion County man has been arrested after failing to perform work, taking money and fleeing to Mexico.Sixty-one-year-old John Norris Dunn was booked into the Marion County Detention Center March 16.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Aug. 7 of last year, a victim filed a complaint of theft. The victim stated in Dec. of 2021 he paid Dunn $42,300 to install a fiberglass swimming pool at his residence in Bull Shoals.

The victim stated the check was cashed on Dec. 20, 2021 but Dunn never performed any of the work at the residence or installed any parts of the pool. Deputies spoke to the victim in September of last year over the phone, where he stated he learned Dunn fled to Cozumel.

Dunn is facing a felony count of theft greater than $25,000. A cash only bond is set at $50,000.
