A Douglas County man who was subject of a statewide Amber Alert in April 2021, has been sentenced prison.
Fifty-three-year-old Chad Emmerson of Ava will spend the next six years in prison after entering an Alford plea to a domestic assault charge.
According to investigators, Emmerson took his son after an argument with his wife. They state he assaulted his wife at their home and then fired a shot inside a closed garage. Emmerson’s wife told authorities she feared for her life.
A day after the argument, the Missouri Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert when Emmerson’s wife told authorities she believed he would not bring her son home. The child was returned safely through a third-party approximately two hours after the Amber Alert was issued.
