Seven students from Mountain Home High School have been selected to participate in Arkansas Boys and Girls State May 28 – June 2.
Boys State delegates selected are Justin Rula and James Wilburn and Girls State delegates selected are Reagan Brawner, Leigha Gatewood, Cheyla Leaming, Shelby Sisney and Emalyn Stephens.
Arkansas Boys and Girls State is a week-long summer program designed to give students opportunities to learn how government works. Throughout the week, delegates are assigned a political party, city and county. They administer mock government as if it were real where delegates run for office, draft and pass legislation, solve municipal challenges and engage with constituents. By the end of the week, students will have experience first hand civic responsibility.
The program are for high school juniors going into their senior year. 2023 Boys State will be held on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas. Girls State will be held on the Harding University Campus.
