A searcy County man has been arrested after an alleged rape incident.
According to a release from the Searcy County Sheriff’s Department, on Sunday, Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported his office received information concerning a possible sexual assault. After receiving the initial details the Marshall Police Department was contacted, since the allegation occurred within the Marshall city limits.
Officials with the Marshall Police Department and Searcy County Sheriff then conducted a joint investigation which resulted in an individual known as Genaro Quiroz Ortiz being identified as the alleged suspect. Officials gathered information on Ortiz which led to the discovery he is an undocumented immigrant residing along Tudor Street in Marshall.
A search warrant was executed and authorities collected items of evidence to assist in the investigation, the details of the specific items have not been released.
Ortiz was located at the residence along Tudor Street and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center.
After a post-Miranda interview with Searcy County officials, Ortiz was formally charged with rape and has been scheduled for his first appearance in Searcy County Circuit Court.
