The newly released unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center for the month of January show the number of unemployed has gone down since January in northern Arkansas with mixed numbers across southern Missouri.
In Baxter County, the rate is at 3.3%, down from 4.1% in the previous month. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 34th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 463 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 16,355.
Marion County’s rate declined from 4.8% in January to 3.7% in February, ranking it as tied for 49th lowest in the state. Marion County has 230 residents out of work from a work force of 6,229.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate went from 4% in January to 3% in February which means they are tied for the 24th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,954 and 151 unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County went down from 5.9% in January to 4.2% in February which is tied for number 63 in Arkansas. There are 188 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,450.
In Stone County, the February rate was 4.1%, down from 5.1% in January. That ranks Stone County tied for 59th out of 75 counties. There are 4,480 in the labor force in Stone County with 183 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate went down from 5.9% to 4.7% in February, ranking them 70th in Arkansas. There are 132 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,790.
Boone County’s rate decreased from 3.5% in January to 2.9% in February, putting them in a tie for the 17th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 15,938 with 463 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 24th lowest unemployment rate at 3%, down from 3.7% last month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,205 with 96 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’s unemployed rate in February was 3.2%, down from 3.4% the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stands at 4.5%, down from 4.8% in January. Ozark County has 149 unemployed out of a work force of 3,339.
Douglas County saw their rate go from 2.9% in January to 2.5% in February. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,235 and there are 133 out of work.
Howell County had a decrease, going from 3.3% to 2.9% in February. Howell County has work force of 15,922 with 467 unemployed.
Taney County’s rate increased from 9% in January to 10.6% in February. There are 2,563 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 24,210.
Missouris rate went down from 2.8% last month to 2.7% in February.
