The events leading up to the arrest of 44-year-old John William Ferguson on September 14, 2022, began when someone reported to 911 that a man was walking on State Highway 201 North.
Ferguson was in Baxter County Circuit Court recently, pled guilty to possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
A Baxter County sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene and contacted the man reported to be walking on the highway, later identified as Ferguson, to determine if he was having problems.
A check showed that Ferguson was on probation with a warrantless search waiver on file.
In searching Ferguson, the deputy found a loaded syringe containing approximately 10 units of a clear liquid and 37 grams of a dry white crystalline substance.
Both substances field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
The 37 grams of methamphetamine had been divided into nine small plastic bags for resale purposes, according to the probable cause affidavit.
