A Baxter County Detention Center inmate is facing an additional charge on an accusation of striking a jailer. Thirty-three-year-old Marissa Schofer of Gamaliel was charged with a felony count of second-degree battery on an officer.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a jailer was requested to respond to Schofer’s complaint about commissary on April 11. The jailer states she asked Schofer if she had put in an order, and Schofer responded, “No, she just gets commissary delivered. I never place an order.” The jailer said that wasn’t how commissary works.
The jailer then asked Schofer if she was going to stop kicking the door, and she reportedly said no. The jailer says she told Schofer she would be locked down due to her disruptions. Schofer said “okay,” and her fist then allegedly connected with the left side of the jailer’s face. A Baxter County investigator states the jailer’s left side of her face was swollen from the hit.
Schofer was already jailed on charges of third-degree battery, disorderly conduct and a probation violation. Her bond is set at $10,750.
