Ava woman arrested for interfering with arrest; led deputies on chase

An Ava woman has been arrested for resisting and interfering with an arrest after leading law enforcement on a multi-county chase.

According to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop along U.S. Highway 60 in Mountain View, Mo. The vehicle, driven by Autumn Smith of Ava, failed to yield and continued to flee into Shannon County. Deputies were able to deploy spike strips in an attempt to slow Smith who led law enforcement through several county roads, but were unsuccessful.

Approximately an hour later, Smith lost control of her vehicle, where it rolled over before coming to rest on its wheels. Two females, Smith and passenger Jordan Wilds of Eminence, were taken into custody.

Smith was charged with resisting arrest and driving while revoked. She was also booked on two active arrest warrants out of Willow Springs for traffic violations. She is being held in the Howell COunty Adult Detention Center on $25,000 bond.

Wilds was placed under arrested for active arrest warrants and a parole violation with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
