Local athletes compete in Arkansas High School Decathlon, Heptathlon

A few area track athletes took part in the Arkansas High School Decathlon and Heptathlon Thursday at Fayetteville.

Mountain Home’s Robert Dover was the top local performer in the decathlon as he finished 15th overall. Dover won the discus and was fourth in the shot put. The winner of the decathlon was Brody Emberton of Clinton.

Also for the Bomber Boys, Zach Daugherty ended up second in the pole vault, and Dylan McBride took 11th place in the shot put.

The top overall performance among the local athletes in the heptathlon came from the 15th place finish by Kambree Gibson of Yellville-Summit. Gibson was part of a nine-way tie for seventh place along with Mountain Home’s Ali Czanstkowski, and she ended up ninth in the 200-meter dash. The winner of the heptathlon was Ava Goetz of Fayetteville.

Yellville-Summit’s KJ Moore was part of a three-way tie for fourth in the high jump.
