Investigation suggests Sugarloaf Waste Water fire intentionally set

An investigation into the Sugarloaf Waste Water Treatment facility has resulted with evidence suggesting the fire was intentionally set.

According to Boone County Sheriff Roy Martin, the department was contacted by the Diamond City Police Department to assist in the investigation for any possible criminal involvement. The joint investigation has identified at least two juvenile suspects at this time. Criminal charges are currently being reviewed and follow-up efforts are still on-going.

Investigators believe the juveniles involved may be responsible for additional crimes in the area which are currently being investigated.

Boone County 911 received a report the Sugarloaf Waste Water Treatment facility was on fire the night of April 26. Diamond City, Lead Hill and Bergman Fire Departments responded along with Diamond City Police Chief Troy Burleson. The fire was contained and extinguished due to the outstanding efforts by the three local fire departments and their volunteer fire fighters.
