A Howell County man has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for the receipt and distribution of child pornography.

On May 12, 37-year-old Kenneth L. Lannais of West Plains was sentenced in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

According to a release from the West Plains Police Department, in Dec. of 2020 the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force responded to a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children after Google has observed files depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on its servers.

Investigators linked the Google account to Lannais at his residence. In May of 2021, a search warrant was served at Lannais’ residence and several items capable of storing digital evidence were seized. The items were later found to contain files depicting CSAM. In a post-Miranda interview, Lannais admitted he possessed the CSAM files and commonly viewed them.
