An Ozark County couple has been arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after a call to 911 for a possible hostage situation turned out to be a drug-induced hallucination.
According to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies dispatched to a residence in Tecumseh for a report of a possible hostage situation. Family members reported they received a text from the homeowners stating two males broke into their home and they were holding them at gunpoint. During the initial investigation, the homeowners were heard on a phone line crying and begging for their lives.
The Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force was called for assistance, and after approximately 30 minutes, the team was able to get the two occupants out of the house. The occupants were identified as Randy and Marsha Wilson. Wilsons told law enforcement two males were still inside the house. Authorities went through the house, but no one was located inside.
Further investigation revealed the Wilsons were under the influence of methamphetamine and no one broke into the residence. The Wilsons experienced the induced visions of intruders due to the use of amphetamines. Authorities located meth and paraphernalia on both persons and in plain view inside the residence.
Both Randy and Marsha Wilson were arrested and booked into the Ozark County Detention Center.
