The American Red Cross has seen a shortfall in blood donations in May, collecting 26,000 fewer donations needed to meet the needs of patients.
On Wednesday, World Blood Donor Day is recognized to bring awareness of the need for a safe, diverse and stable blood supply along with recognizing volunteer blood donors.
Donors who give blood, platelets or plasma through June 30 will receive a $10 gift card by email to a merchant of their choice along with being automatically entered for a chance to win a backyard theater package.
Blood donation opportunities will be held in Baxter County June 21 from 10 until 2 at Alley-White American Legion Post 52 located at 717 Market Street and June 22 from 11:30 until 4 at North Arkansas Electric Cooperative located at 1520 U.S. Highway 62 East. In Fulton County, donors can visit the Moko Church of Christ located at 101 Asher Road on June 22 from Noon until 5. Donors in Boone County can visit North Arkansas College located at 1515 Pioneer Drive from 9 until and at Camp Jack located at 411 S. Pine Street on June 23 from 9 until 1.
