Sharp Co. authorities investigating Cave City church vandalism

The Sharp County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information on a church vandalism occurring in Cave City.

According to the sheriff’s department, on Sunday evening, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church was vandalized.

Authorities state the unidentified subject spray painted multiple satanic symbols on the building and a van to include:

A smiling face, with “devil horns” winking;
An upside down cross on multiple doors;
“BEAST” on the driver side of the van; and
“666” on an exterior wall.

Authorities state this type of criminal action will not be tolerated in Sharp County, regardless of spiritual beliefs, Sharp County authorities state they will uphold the 1st amendment constitutional rights of the freedom of religion, and they will have zero tolerance of any church being vandalized or purposely damaged.

The sheriff’s office has ordered extra patrol around the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church, and other churches are being contacted about the incident.
