Douglas Co. man faces additional charges for assaulting another inmate

A Douglas County man is facing additional charges after assaulting an inmate while in the Douglas County Detention Center.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, several deputies assisted jailers with a fight within the jail. Forty-two-year-old James Shea of Ava was witnessed following another inmate into one of the jail pods. Immediately afterwards, the inmate was observed to have noticeable bumps and bruises.

Camera footage showed Shea following the inmate into the pod and closing the door. The inmate attempted to leave and go into the shared area when Shea pulled him back in.

Shea faces additional charges of domestic assault with an additional bond set at $25,000. He is was already being held in the Douglas County Detention Center on two counts of domestic assault for an incident in April with a bond of $2,500. Shea also has a parole warrant, which holds no bond.
