Local communities amongst those awarded over $692k from AEDC

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Rural Services Division recently awarded grants totaling $692,435 to 49 Arkansas cities and counties through two grant programs.

The Lead Hill Fire Department has been awarded $75,000 under the Rural Services Block Grant Program.

Other local communities and organizations awarded include:

Cotter-Gassville Rural Fire Protection District, $12,811;
Clarkridge Fire Department, awarded $15,000;
Searcy County, awarded $15,000;
Pineville Fire Department, awarded $14,861;
Oakland Promiseland Fire Protection District, awarded $15,000;
The City of Jasper, awarded $15,000;
Boston Mountain Fire Department, awarded $9,138;

The Rural Services Block Grant Program funds new construction or renovation of community centers, fire stations, or multi-purpose buildings as well as the purchase of fire trucks. Applicants from incorporated towns of less than 3,000 in population and unincorporated rural areas with low to moderate incomes of 51 percent or higher are eligible for up to $75,000 in funds under the program, with a 10 percent match.
