Starting Saturday, the ASU-Mountain Home Art Gallery will be showing nature paintings by Diane Hoppmann. An opening reception will be held Thursday from 4 until 6.Hoppmann states her inspiration for her paintings is drawn from her high sensitivity in observing nature’s changing light, color and atmospheric conditions. Her work has been completed since moving to the Ozarks, six years ago from the east coast. Hoppmann’s paintings are executed in an impressionistic style mostly on larger canvases and her subjects include creeks, rivers and lakes. She calls her experience of connecting to the earth through the act of painting “being home” and painting allows her to experience the balance of composition, shape, perspective and color while escaping into “a peaceful and safe emotional place.”
Hoppmann resides in Mountain Home and graduated from the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. earning a B.F.A. She also attended the post Baccalaureate program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and graduated from New York University in New York City with an M.A. Hoppmann continued to paint and show her work while starting her own decorative painting business in New York and Washington, D.C. for the next thirty years. She is also continues to work as a commercial actor/model.
Hoppmann’s featured exhibitions and clients include East Hampton Center for Contemporary Arts, Adrian Arscht, Eileen Fisher, Ralph Lauren Home and Hertz World Wide Corporate Headquarters.
