This time of year marks the Fourth of July holiday period, but it’s also the anniversary of a scary moment on Norfork Lake. Monday marks one year since a fire damaged 26 boats and a boat dock on Tracy Ferry Marina.

A family were in their boat getting its running lights connected and working. The motor on the watercraft was running when it suddenly exploded and burst into flames.

Tracy Volunteer Fire Department member Alan Sollis recently recounted the incident with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot’s Heather Loftis and said the notification on his pager came across originally as a boat fire at the marina.

In the second part of the conversation on Tuesday, Sollis will address the importance and necessity of volunteer firefighters in the area.
