A 24-year-old man charged with attacking another person with a beer bottle, lawn chair and his bare hands, pled guilty to the charges against him in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

Twenty-four-year-old Michael Jay Rose was sentenced to 11 months of misdemeanor probation and 20 days in the county jail with credit for time served.

Rose’s case took a slight detour when he was declared a fugitive April 28 after being a no show for a scheduled appearance in circuit court. He turned himself in at the Baxter County jail recently.

Rose, who listed an address in Harrison when originally charged with the assault, now shows Kissee Mills, Missouri as his place of residence.

His original arrest came May 13 last year when police were called to a residence in Gassville just before 2 a.m. to respond to a physical disturbance report.

According to the probable cause affidavit in Rose’s case, when a Gassville police officer arrived at an address along South School Street, he was told Rose had attacked a male in the driveway of the residence.

The officer was told Rose was alleged to have first hit the victim in the back of the head with a beer bottle, then a lawn chair and finally attacked him with his bare hands.

The victim was examined on scene but refused transport to the hospital.

There was no information in the probable cause affidavit on what provoked the attack.

Rose was taken to the Baxter County Detention Center and booked on aggravated assault charges.

At the time he disappeared, he was free on $10,000 bond.
