A report made of individuals locked in the back of a U-haul led to the arrest of a Baxter County man.
On July 4, the Mountain Home Police Department dispatched to a report of individuals locked in the back of a U-haul truck. The caller stated the truck left the midtown Casey’s and was heading westbound on U.S. Highway 62.
The responding officer discovered the truck parked at a gas pump at the Casey’s on Arkansas Highway 5 North. The officer states as he pulled into the parking lot of Casey’s, he observed the license plate number on the truck matched the one given through dispatch. The vehicle then allegedly tried to leave the parking lot as the officer pulled in behind it, leading to the officer initiating the emergency lights and conducting a stop.
The driver of the vehicle was then identified as 31-year-old Christopher Davis of Norfork.
When asked, Davis stated there were people in the back of the U-haul. The officer then instructed Davis to put his hands on the front of the patrol vehicle to check for weapons when Davis admitted there was marijuana and methamphetamine in his pockets.
After Davis was placed in a patrol vehicle, officers from multiple departments opened the back of the U-haul to find two individuals sitting in the back. The individuals stated they went to see a firework show, and decided to ride in the back of the truck on the way back.
Officers then discovered a meth pipe in the back of the truck, and David reported it was his.
Davis has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
