The office of the Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands is underway with another round of tax-delinquent property auctions. The auctions to be held in north central Arkansas will be held throughout the month of August.
The first area auction is scheduled for Aug. 1 at 10 at the Durand Center in Harrison and will cover properties in Marion, Searcy, Boone and Newton counties. The auction for Baxter and Stone counties will be held at the same time Aug. 2 in the Trout Nature Center of the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. Tax-delinquent properties in Fulton and Izard counties will be auctioned off Aug. 31 at 10 in the John E. Miller Lecture Hall on the campus of Ozarka College in Melbourne.
Commissioner Tommy Land recently posted on Facebook a notable change to this year’s auctions. Cash will no longer be accepted at a live auction. Anyone looking to buy will need to bring a personal or business check or a credit or debit card. Successful bidders must pay for their entire purchase at the auction site. Those making a purchase online will have 10 days to make a full payment.
Property can be redeemed prior to the auction. The deadline to redeem a parcel is 4 p.m. on the last business day before the sale date. All sales are final, and property cannot be redeemed after being sold at a live or online auction.
The commissioner’s office also encourages potential bidders to research a parcel prior to attending the auction and placing a bid. Once a bid is successful, it is legally binding.
