
The Mountain Home Diamonds began action in the Fastpitch American Softball Association Class C 16-and-Under and 18-and-Under World Series Tuesday in Branson.
The Diamonds started on a rough note as they fell 7-4 to Sugar and Spice from Crowder, Oklahoma. Mountain Home struck first in the as Katie Camp led off the top of the first inning with a triple. Kaelyn Gooch later singled, and when Sugar and Spice tried to catch her stealing, Camp came home for the first run of the game. Gooch later scored on a double by Mallorie Drewry. Sugar and Spice answered later that inning with five runs, and they later added two more in the second. Gooch led off the fourth with a double, and Laken Anderson later drove her in with a two-run home run, but the Diamonds would get no closer.
Mountain Home bounced back in dominating fashion in their second game as they routed the Semo Rampage from Chaffee, Missouri, by a final of 11-2. The Diamonds exploded for three runs in the first inning and seven in the second. After Semo posted two runs in the top of the third, Mountain Home picked up one more insurance run in the bottom half to round out the scoring. Anderson went 2-for-2 in the game, Camp was 2-for-3, and Karleigh Drewry ended up 1-for-3.
