The Baxter County Sheriff’s Department is notifying the public a new sex offender has registered with the office after moving to Baxter County from the State of Oregon.

Sheriff John Montgomery states 51-year-old David Thomson has moved to 3882 Highway 101 North, Space #6 in Gamaliel.

Thomson was arrested in Redding, California in 1996 on felony crimes of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age. Thomson was formally charged with the offense by the court, with no specific details available. Thomson was later charged and convicted in California in 1997 for failing to register as a sex offender. He has not yet been assigned a risk level by the sex offender community notification assessment.

Thomson is not wanted by lawn enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate, or harass Registered Sex Offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
