Baxter Health announced Thursday their newest family medicine physician to the Baxter Health Market Street Family Clinic, Chesley Murphy, MD. Dr. Murphy joins the practice alongside Dr. Benjamin Stevens, Dr. Brittney Frisby and Shannon Castle, APRN.Dr. Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a Master of Science in biomedical sciences from Kansas City University in Kansas City, Mo., before attending medical school at University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock. He completed a family medicine internship and served as Chief Resident at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences – Northeast in Jonesboro. Dr. Murphy is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians and held several leadership positions in organizations throughout his college career.Dr. Murphy has a passion for rural health, even founding an organization to facilitate monthly speakers from various fields working towards health equity in the state of Arkansas. He also served as a peer-elected President of Family Medicine Interest Group, developing mentorship for medical students with family medicine residents and faculty.
Dr. Murphy is married to his wife, Audrey, and have two young children. Originally from El Dorado, Dr. Murphy wanted to practice in a small town. An affinity for the outdoors and strong sense of community are among the reasons the Murphy’s have found their Mountain Home.
