CORRECTION:  According to the Mountain Home Police Department, the victim has been identified as a 17-year-old, not 18 as MHPD previously reported.

A Mountain Home High School Career Academies teacher is accused of inappropriate contact with a 17-year-old male student. Twenty-eight-year-old Madison Harned of Mountain Home is facing three felony counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin says his department was contacted Friday by Mountain Home Public Schools. During the investigation, Harned was discovered to have allegedly had multiple instances of inappropriate sexual contact with the student.

Harned is listed online as a Career Technical Education business instructor. In a statement, Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allyson Dewey said, “The safety and well being of our students is of the utmost importance to the district. We’re working closely and openly with law enforcement as this investigation unfolds, and at this time we are not able to provide further comment.”

Harned was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center Friday evening and released nearly an hour-and-a-half later after posting a bond of $50,000.
